Why Join SFT?

  1. Activism is sexy.
  2. It is lot's of fun. You meet great people with common interests who you enjoy both working and playing with.
  3. You will learn about Tibet. That is a guarantee. If you know nothing at all about Tibet, that's ok; you can join and find out all you want.
  4. It provides great experience. Of course, it’s good to list group activities like SFT on a resumé, but the group can offer much more than that. You’ll learn all about the details and behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into all of our activities. You’ll learn the ins-and-outs of campus and community activism; how to interact with other groups, both student and non-student, administration, and interested but uninformed students. Petitioning for funding from the University is salesmanship; you’ll need the same skills to sell yourself to an employer.
  5. However, the most compelling reason for joining in the struggle for a free Tibet is this; the people of Tibet need you. They are the underdogs. If we don’t help them, who will? China? There is no indication that they will ever willingly give up Tibet. Corporations with billions of dollars invested in China? Unlikely. Governments fueled by those same corporations? Doubtful. You and I are the ones who hold the power. It’s up to you; will you help or not?
