The Tibetan Tutoring Project
Unfortunately, we are currently not running this project. If you are interested in helping start it back up, please contact Tom Boman.
What is the Tibetan Tutoring Project, though?:
- Description: The Tibetan Tutoring Project works to provide educational support and build community with the youth of our local Tibetan community by providing help with homework. We also match people up with students and families for private tutoring. There is no experience or time commitment necessary for the drop-in tutoring.
- History:
We started out of Students for a Free Tibet as a project filling a need in the Tibetan community by providing academic support for the kids who were struggling in school with poor English skills. Most of the Tibetan community of about 400 moved to Madison from India or Nepal between 3-6 years ago. Now the kids all have good English skills, but there is still a need for help with their homework, and for the chance to get together with other Tibetan youth and supportive adults.
